|The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is the first scheme of its kind worldwide to offer long term financial support for renewable heating and hot water systems. The Domestic RHI is available for households off or on the gas grid. Heating and hot water systems that currently use oil, LPG or electric storage heaters have the most potential to save on fuel bills and reduce carbon emissions. The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive provides an income to the owner of the eligible heating system. Quarterly tax free payments will be paid directly into your bank account for a period of 7 years.|
|*The RHI annual income figures are illustrative examples based on a 3-bed semi-detached house with loft and cavity wall insulation. Figures for your own property will vary, depending on individual circumstances. The amount you receive is based on the heat load figures shown on an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and the tariff rate for each technology. The only exception is solar water heating which is based solely on the MCS installer calculations and the appropriate tariff rate. Solar water heating can be fitted alongside any of the other eligible technologies allowing the RHI to be paid for both systems.
Because renewable heating systems work best in a well insulated home, the Domestic RHI works alongside the Green Deal Scheme. In order to qualify for the Domestic RHI, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and Green Deal Assessment (GDA) needs to be carried out for your property. Installation of loft and cavity wall insulation will be required only if it is recommended in the Green Deal Advice Report. People who build their own homes are only required to have an EPC.
The renewable heating technology and installation contractor must be certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). BSW are certified MCS installers.
